A few weeks ago I taught year 7 and 8 students, some with no prior coding experience, at Hammersmith Academy to create a maze game with Python and Pyglet.
In half a day the students learnt how to use Python variables, if statements, loops, 2D lists, files and various Pyglet APIs. They learnt how solve problems on paper first before coding, created art for their game in Paint, a character that could move around a maze, collide into walls and collect powerups.
I am busy writing up and extending the day’s lessons into a more substantial free online Python and Pyglet course - source code.
Please feel free to use the material how you please, the course is release under an MIT License.
